This morning, we reported that Samsung Mobile’s CEO himself, Mr. JK Shin, has announced the arrival of the newest member of the Galaxy family – the Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini.
The 4-inch phone will be officially revealed tomorrow, October 11, but we can provide you with the Galaxy S3 Mini’s specs and features right now, courtesy of the German tech blog Mobile Geeks.
The little brother of the Galaxy S3 will feature a 4-inch AMOLED display with WVGA resolution (800 x 480). On the inside, the Galaxy S3 Mini GT-I8190 will be powered by a dual-core STE U8420 chip presumably clocked at 1GHz. The phone will also feature the standard (these days) 1GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage, expandable via microSD with up to 32GB.
The Galaxy S3 Mini features a 5MP rear camera, with autofocus and LED flash, and a front facing VGA camera. The battery will supposedly be a 1500mAh model.
The folks at Mobile Geeks claim that the information above, while not official, is highly reliable and verified from several sources.

In terms of connectivity, the S3 Mini will support HSPA 14.4/5.76 900/1900/2100 and EDGE / GPRS 850/900/1800/1900. The device will also feature Bluetooth 4, WiFi a/b/g/n, DLNA, and NFC.
Here’s a comparison between the S3 Mini and its older sibling:

You can see that the Galaxy S3 Mini closely resembles the S3, but it does have several distinctive features. The corners of the devices are more rounded, the home button is slightly redesigned. And, unless the leaked press image is mirrored, it seems that the front camera and the proximity sensor have been relocated on the left side of the device.
In terms of software, the Galaxy S3 Mini will come with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean out of the box.
We expect Samsung to officially launch the Galaxy S3 Mini tomorrow. At that point, we will be able to provide information on the price and availability of the device.
