The Android open source platform has crossed the 6 million of tablets. This data includes the tablets which are running on Froyo, Gingerbread and Honeycomb operating system. Comparatively this data doesn’t look good when you have more than five dozens of tablets available in market which are powered by Android and these figures are nowhere in comparison with the Apple iPad sold till now.
The Honeycomb and the newly launched Ice Cream Sandwich are the platforms to test out Android OS on tablets but not the Froyo and Gingerbread ones. When you calculate there are more manufacturers of low-end tablets rather than going with high-end tablets. The stats are changing and we see more and more tablets are launching the other day. Android tablets are available well par below $200 too and there are tablets above $ 500 too. You will find more country specific tablets when you come to Android as this open source platform has been widely used on low cost tablets manufactured by mobile manufacturers companies. There is an Indian version of Aakash tablet available for just $ 40.
